The Best Salad In The Entire Universe...fo real.

I made this mix of greens for my girlfriend Laura one day while she was visiting the farmhouse and she never stopped talking about it. It was off the top of my head. What a great boost for my culinary ego!!Get a big bowl and fill with your favorite, clean and washed salad greens.Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil.Toss in a teaspoon of fresh minced garlic and when I say fresh, I mean FRESH.Two huge fistfuls of shredded parmesan.Toss to coat.Squeeze a half of lemon onto the greens, dash of sea salt, and few twists of fresh ground black pepper.Toss once again.Serve with toasted herbed ciabatta slices or any fresh chewy bread.Suggestions for a great lunch or light supper.A small bowl of Mediterannean mixture of olives…kalamata, cerignola, or cracked green.Tuna packed in olive oil. Look for it in the Italian section of the market.Add some chickpeas or serve in bowl, drizzled with olive oil and black pepper, or hummus.Thin grilled slices of London broil....Grilled and chilled shrimp….I prefer spring mix or green leaf, but romaine or even baby romaine will work just as well. The blend of greens in the spring mix just seems to work sublimely with the lemon and the sea salt.

Well, It's Better Than A Flu Shot!!!

Do yourself and your family a big juicy flavor. Buy a small crate of Clementines and display them in a bowl in your kitchen, on your coffee table, or on your bar if you are lucky enough to have one...in which case I'll be there. They look beautiful and festive, not to mention good for you. Unwrapped jewels of vitamin C.

Get a little healthy this new year. Even if you have to squeeze a fresh one into a chilled shot of Stoli.

YUUUUUMMMMMM!!!

Yes!! Now that is the way birthday cake should be eaten Bella!!!

Mmmmmonkey Cake

I just want to warn all who decide to make this cake. If you are on a diet, or watching what you eat, just close the browser now and pretend you never saw this article. I was introduced to this ecstasy inducing doughy confection at my friend Laura's house over the summer and I haven't been the same since. I've made 5 in two weeks. The best part is that it is so easy.

Monkey Cake
Buy a four pack of Pillsbury Biscuits....buttermilk.
One stick of butter
One teaspoon of cinnamon
¾ cup of sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla

Cut biscuits in quarters and shake in plastic filled with cinnamon and white sugar mix.
Place half of biscuits in buttered bundt pan.
Melt butter, brown sugar and vanilla in saucepan until bubbly.
Pour half of this mixture over biscuits in bundt pan
Place remaining biscuits into bag to coat and put in bundt pan.
Pour remaining mixture of brown sugar and butter over biscuits.

Turkey? What Turkey?

Yes, so in a moment of good naturedness and into about my sixth glass of a fabulous vintage cabernet, I offered to be this year's host of Thanksgiving. Mm-hmm. Good job. First of all, I am the baby of the family and thought my only requirement for the holidays was to show up everywhere already a little fizzy and then leave early with friends to do more partying. Ok...well, I have grown up.....a little. So far in preparation for what is certainly an epic exercise in organization and preparedness, I have a set of 8 napkins. That my sister bought. Who lives 2 hours away. I'll keep you posted.

Not Safe For PETA

Hunting season is upon us for those of you who don't know. Somehow, some venison wound up in my icebox yesterday morning. I think the venison fairy visited us because certainly no one in this household would wash their hair with Scent Killer, sport camo and venture into the woods to kill a few unsuspecting deer. So to honor the buck that has given my family food for the month, I marinated some loin medallions in burgundy wine, fresh garlic, fresh ground pepper, bay leaves and fresh rosemary. Mmmm. So that is what we are having for dinner along with some creamy, cheesy, melty, buttery potatoes. For all of you potato rights activists, don't worry, they didn't feel a thing.
