My love for cooking began in my 20's when I was exposed to great cuisine, mostly from working in 5 star restaurants. I also had my first love then and as some of us know, romance, passion and food can work wonderfully together if you know what you are doing. I put together wonderful picnics for us and though the romance didn't last, the memories still remain. Eventually, I moved to the city and cooking was put on the back burner. Too many great places to eat, hang out and party. Needless to say, hangovers+slicing+dicing is downright dangerous after a three, er, ah..one day bender. Spent a lot of time ordering out and eating under the covers. And if I didn’t look too scary, I'd taxi it down to Chinatown and hit David's on 10th & Arch for some healing. I still dream about the ginger scallion sauce that accompanies their dumplings! Again, I moved. I had no charming café to visit or a trendy little bistro that you find in far away corners of a big city. Mostly, I felt the lack of global cuisine. So, since my love of cooking is matched only by my love of writing, I have decided to open Elise’s Cafe, on my very own little corner. Everyone is welcome and I love to stay open late.
